Fifth Grade Print Making

Fifth grade students finished of the year with a printmaking project. We learned about the artist MC Escher and his focus on math and tessellations.  We reviewed  the geometry concepts, rotate, flip and slide which would be key to how we print our blocks. we looked at tile and quilt patterns for inspiration for symmetrical designs. The print blocks were carved in a soft eraser like materiel. Students had to consider positive and negative space. After several series of prints they chose their best and decided how they could mount and present it in a creative way!

Ms. Mahoney's Kindergarten Memorial Day Arts Integration Project

Kindergarten students worked together to create mini murals to be presented to service men and women at their Memorial Day Assembly. We first discussed different symbols that represent America and they chose the following ideas for their paintings. These kindergarten students took this creative job very seriously as because they would actually be giving their work to the military.
