K/1 Abstract Black Line Paintings

Kindergarten and first grade students continued to build their study of line in art, specifically abstract art. This was the first time painting this year for our youngest artists. The first class students painted all types of black lines which in turn created shapes. We also learned about how to properly use a paint brush and how to be respective and responsible users of art supplies. The following week students added color and pattern to the negative spaces they created. Look for photos of the final paintings coming soon. Ms Aldridge, a UVM intern is pictured in this blog post and we have been lucky to have her help on Thursday afternoons at Summit Street.
