Students watched a slide show of Victorian Painted Ladies as they learned about architecture from this period. Students then were presented with a paper bag which was the canvas for their cut paper architectural designs. We discussed the importance of good craftsmanship, especially when doing collage work. The goal was to create as many details with just cut paper and only at the end of the project did we pull out drawing tools. Many students have pointed out features like a Widow's Walk on a home that can be seen from one of our Summit Street stairwells. Stay tuned for finished projects on our blog.
